Right-handed pitcher Jake Jackson has been named the Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week after tossing a gem on Friday in Nevada’s 2-1 win over California Baptist. He pitched 6.1 innings with three strikeouts and only surrendered one earned run to secure the Pack’s first win of the 2020 season.

Jackson is having a great start to his junior season, posting a 3.00 ERA which is the best among the Nevada starting rotation. He also leads the team with 24 innings pitched and ranks second on the team with 16 strikeouts.

In the Mountain West, Jackson’s ERA is currently tied for sixth and his innings pitched is tied for second. He is holding opposing batters to a .271 average this year.

Nevada will be back at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park this weekend for a three-game series against Sacramento State beginning on Friday. Prior to facing the Hornets, the Pack will be in Moraga, Calif. to face Saint Mary’s this Wednesday.
