Following a 2-0 week for the Nevada women’s basketball team, junior Jade Redmon has been named the Bradley, Drendel & Jeanney Athlete of the Week.
Redmon was instrumental in leading the Wolf Pack to two victories last week, averaging 14.5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. On Saturday at Boise State she produced her second 20-point game of the conference season, leading all scorers and tying her career high with 20 points. Redmon’s efforts helped Nevada to a four-point (72-68) road win over the Broncos, its first win in Boise since 2011. With 1:30 left in the game, and her team trailing by three, Redmon hit a pull up jumper that brought her team within one, putting them in a position to take the lead for good on the next possession.
She finished the week with a positive assist/turnover ratio, dishing out four assists to just two turnovers in two games. Redmon shot the ball very well during the week as she connected on 65 percent of her shots and hit 13-of-20 from the field. Additionally she was perfect from the free throw line.
Redmon is playing some of her best basketball of the season in league play, averaging 13.0 points per game which ranks second on the team. In league action she is shooting 50.8 percent, has 12 assists and has turned the ball over just five times.
