After helping the Nevada women’s basketball team to its first true road win of the season on Saturday, senior Teige Zeller has been named the Bradley, Drendel & Jeanney Athlete of the Week.
Zeller posted the Wolf Pack’s first double-double of the season, and fourth of her career, as she aided in Nevada earning a 74-65 road win at Seattle, improving the team’s record to 5-4. The New Mexico native tallied a team-high 20 points, her second 20-point game of the season, and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds, including five offensive boards. She has now scored in double figures six times in nine games.
Zeller was near perfect on the day, connecting on 83.3 percent (10-of-12) of her shot attempts. She collected 14 points in the first half alone on 7-of-8 shooting, helping Nevada to a 36-30 halftime lead where it is now 5-0 on the year when leading at the break. Defensively she was part of a unit that allowed Seattle to shoot just 26.7 percent from beyond the arc.
