RENO, Nev. – Nevada Softball earned a strong haul of postseason awards from the Mountain West on Wednesday, highlighted by
Hannah Di Genova being named Mountain West Player of the Year and
Katie Wetteland earning Mountain West Freshman of the Year honors. The Wolf Pack placed three players on the All‑Mountain West First Team and two on the Second Team, marking another season of elite individual and team success for the program. This year's Player of the Year honor also marks the second straight season in which Nevada has claimed the conference's top award.
Di Genova delivered one of the most dominant offensive seasons in the Mountain West, finishing with a .423 batting average, 71 hits, 24 home runs, and 78 RBIs across 54 starts. She led the Pack in slugging percentage (.958) and total bases (161). Throughout the duration of the season Di Genova was named Mountain West Player of the Week three times. She was recognized at the national level after being named D1 Softball's Mid-Major Player of the Week and Softball America's Player of the Week. During her senior season Di Genova has set the new single-season total bases, RBIs, and home run records. Her consistency and power production anchored Nevada's lineup from start to finish, making her a clear choice for the league's top honor.
Wetteland emerged as one of the conference's most impactful newcomers, earning Freshman of the Year recognition after a breakout season in which she hit .410, recorded 64 hits, and drove in 47 runs while starting all 48 games she appeared in. She added 10 doubles, four triples, and nine home runs, finishing with a .699 slugging percentage and a .497 on‑base percentage.
Nevada's all‑conference selections showcased the team's depth and balance.
Madison Clark, Di Genova, and Wetteland were each named to the All‑Mountain West First Team. Clark led the Pack with a .466 batting average, ranking first on the team in hits (90), runs scored (53), and stolen bases (31‑for‑33) while starting all 53 games she played in. She was ranked top ten nationally for her batting average and hits amongst the country's top softball players. Her 114 total bases and .485 on‑base percentage made her one of the most complete offensive players in the conference.
On the All‑Mountain West Second Team,
Tess Bumiller and
Haylee Engelbrecht earned recognition for the second season in a row after standout seasons in the circle and at the plate. Bumiller finished the year 12‑5 with a 2.79 ERA, the best mark among Nevada pitchers, while throwing 105.1 innings and recording 55 strikeouts. She also held opponents to a .279 average and delivered three complete‑game shutouts.
Engelbrecht was one of Nevada's most reliable run producers, hitting .345 with 59 hits, 17 doubles, 10 home runs, and 39 RBIs across all 54 games. She posted a .620 slugging percentage and added nine stolen bases, while also contributing defensively with 88 putouts and 102 assists.
Together, Nevada's award winners reflect a season defined by elite offensive production, strong pitching performances, and a program continuing to rise within the Mountain West. With six all‑conference honorees and back‑to‑back Player of the Year awards, the Wolf Pack's trajectory remains firmly pointed upward.
Nevada begins play at the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship today at 6 p.m., taking on No. 6 Colorado State in the play-in round.
