LAS VEGAS, Nev. - Nevada (36-17, 16-8 MW) couldn't overcome a decisive third inning by UNLV (30-20, 17-7 MW), falling 4–2 on Friday afternoon at Eller Media Stadium in Las Vegas.
With the loss, Nevada is locked into the No. 3 seed at the 2026 Credit Union 1 Mountain West Championship. The Wolf Pack will begin tournament play Wednesday, May 6, at 6 p.m. against an opponent still to be determined at Christina M. Hixson Park.
The Wolf Pack held the Rebels scoreless through the first two frames, but UNLV pushed across four runs in the bottom of the third. The Rebels opened the scoring with an RBI single to left and followed that up with a three‑run home run to center to take the lead.
The Pack began to chip away in the fifth when
Talia Tretton delivered a solo home run to deep left, her fifth of the season, putting Nevada on the board. Nevada threatened again in the sixth, loading the bases on consecutive singles from
Matlyn Leetch,
Madison Clark, and
Haylee Engelbrecht. Hannah DiGenova drove in a run on a fielder's choice to cut the deficit to 4–2, but UNLV escaped the inning without further damage.
In the circle, Tretton worked 4.1 innings, allowing four runs, on four hits with four strikeouts.
Ainsley Berlingeri was sharp in relief, tossing 1.2 scoreless innings and holding the Rebels hitless.
The Wolf Pack will face the Rebels in the third game of the series tomorrow at 1 p.m.
