DAVIS, Calif. -Â Nevada Men's Tennis nearly completed a perfect weekend at the Golden Gate Invitational Sunday, but came up just short in a 4-3 loss to Hawai'i.
After Hawai'i (8-4) took the doubles point, the Wolf Pack fought back valiantly with three wins in singles to force the decider.
Axel Huysmans defeated Azuma Visaya, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 1 while Rémy Trégourèes also pulled one out in three sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 over Kosuke Nakanishi at No. 3.
Greg Valente grabbed the Pack's (7-3) first singles victory in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3 over Kent Mueller.
However, Hawai'i would prevail with singles wins at Nos. 2, 5, and 6.
Nevada hosts Weber State in its home opener at McArthur Tennis Center next Saturday, March 14.
