RENO, Nev. – Nevada (23-11, 5-2 MW) opened its weekend series with a 10–4 win over San José State (10-20, 2-5 MW) on Friday night at Christina M. Hixson Park.
San José State struck first with three runs in the opening frame, but the Pack answered immediately.
Haylee Engelbrecht launched a two‑run homer in the bottom of the first, trimming the deficit to 3–2.
Nevada seized full control in the second inning by scoring five runs.
Hannah Di Genova tied the game with a two-run home run, her team‑leading 14th of the season, before Katelyn Wetteland delivered a three‑RBI double to put Nevada ahead 7–3.
The Pack added an RBI from
Madison Clark and Wetteland in the fifth, and
Anna Braukus capped the scoring with a solo home run in the sixth.

Tess Bumiller pitched the first three innings, before
Hailey McLean was dominant in relief, throwing four innings with seven strikeouts and allowing just five hits to earn the win.
Nevada will face San José State tomorrow at 3:05 p.m. for the second game of the series.
