RENO, Nev. - Boise State (13-15, MW 1-0) spoiled Nevada's first game under its brand-new lights at Hixson Park Friday, taking the series opener 6-2.
The Broncos took an early lead in the top of the first that fueled their momentum. In the top of the second, the Broncos extended their lead to 5-0 over the Pack (16-10, MW 0-1).
The next two innings remained scoreless until Nevada broke through and put one on the board.
Hannah Di Genova hit a single to right-field bringing in
Matlyn Leetch to score Nevada's first run of the game.
Bailie Clark then scores on
Rylie Haith's ground out cutting the deficit for the Wolf Pack at 6-2. The Packs momentum was not enough to pull through with the win.
Both
Madison Clark and
Bailie Clark had two hits, along with Di Genova. Starter
Talia Tretton fell to 5-3, giving up six runs on six hits over 1.2 innings.
Nevada continues play at Christina M. Hixson against Boise State tomorrow at 3:05 pm.
