RENO, Nev. — Nevada Softball opens its 2026 season this weekend at the Tiger Classic, hosted by LSU, with five games on deck across three days.

The Pack begins play Friday against Illinois at 10:30 a.m. (PST) before facing LSU at 1 p.m. (PST). Action continues Saturday with matchups against NC State at 10:30 a.m. (PST) and a second meeting with LSU at 3:30 p.m. (PST). Nevada closes the weekend Sunday at 8 a.m. (PST) against Lamar.

The tournament offers an early test against a strong field, including two Power Five opponents and a nationally recognized LSU program, as Nevada looks to build early momentum behind a veteran core.

A NEW ERA TAKING SHAPE IN THE SILVER STATE
Nevada enters 2026 with rising expectations after placing three players on the Preseason All‑Mountain West Team and welcoming program legend Aaliyah Jenkins to the coaching staff.
Hailey McLean, the Mountain West Preseason Pitcher of the Year, returns after a standout 2025 season featuring a 2.62 ERA, 17 wins, and 149 strikeouts. Madison Clark (.380 overall, .493 MW) and Haylee Engelbrecht (.327, .954 OPS) join her on the preseason list after delivering elite offensive seasons.

AALIYAH JENKINS RETURNS TO LEAD THE PACK
Wolf Pack great Aaliyah Jenkins has been promoted to Assistant Coach, returning to the program after a historic playing career that included Mountain West Player of the Year, NFCA All‑Region First Team, and Nevada's first softball All‑American honor since 2008. Jenkins graduated as the program's all‑time leader in home runs (54), RBIs (196), total bases (447), and slugging percentage (.719). Her leadership now shifts to developing the next generation of Nevada talent.

LOOKING AHEAD TO 2026
Nevada returns a strong core, McLean, Hannah DiGenova, Clark, Sage Alfaro, Matlyn Leetch, and Maya Larson, from last year's Mountain West championship team. With key transfers and a promising freshman class, the Pack is positioned to contend again.

The preseason slate includes eight 2025 NCAA Tournament teams, highlighted by UCLA and Oregon, both Women's College World Series participants. The Mountain West also expands with Grand Canyon University, adding another championship-caliber opponent to the conference landscape.
