RENO, Nev. - Nevada Women's Basketball is set to host its final home game on Saturday, facing New Mexico at 1 p.m.
The Pack got back into the win column on Wednesday night after defeating San José State, 49-41.
Nevada's strong defense was the difference in the game. The Pack forced 21 turnovers, recorded 10 steals and held the Spartans to just 27.3 percent from the floor.Â
On the other side, Nevada also struggled to get the ball to fall, shooting 25.8 percent from the floor.Â
Britain Backus had a career night in multiple areas. She came off the bench to go 3-for-5 from beyond the arc and 8-for-8 from the line to lead all players in scoring with a career high 17 points. She also had a career high five rebounds and tied her career high of four steals.
Tahj-Monet Bloom led in boards with a career tying six.
New Mexico is also coming off of a win after beating Utah State, 69-54.Â
The first quarter ended in a 10-10 tie before the Lobos outscored the Aggies in the remaining three quarters. New Mexico shot 36.92 percent from the floor and went 12-for-24 from beyond the arc.
New Mexico had 20 more rebounds than Utah State, grabbing 48.Â
Three players scored in double-figures, with Joana Magalhães leading with 14, followed by Nayli Padilla with 12 and Jessie Joaquim recording a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Nevada and New Mexico last met in early January with the Pack coming out on top, 70-61.Â
