HOUSTON, Texas — Nevada opened the Credit Union 1 2026 Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships Wednesday with multiple championship‑final qualifications and two silver medals.
Diver
Bailey Heydra captured her fourth-career medal on 1-Meter Springboard, closing the night with a silver medal thanks to a strong final dive. The silver goes with gold medals earned last year and in 2022, and bronze in 2023. Batbayar earned her second-straight silver medal in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:43.15, the second-fastest mark in Nevada program history. She just missed out on gold by seven-hundredths of a second, being out-touched by UNLV's Ava Olson.
Keira-Lee Allott placed 12th overall, while
Isabelle Gomez finished 20th.
In the 200 IM, Sara Mihalič finished eighth in the championship final and
Moji Pholjamjumrus secured 10th place by taking second in the B final.
Scarlett Ferris added a seventh‑place finish in the 50-yard freestyle, and
Evie Floate tied for 19th after a strong swim in the C final.
The Pack also earned a fourth‑place finish in the 400 medley relay.
The morning prelims began with the 500 free, where Batbayar secured a spot in the championship final, Allott advanced to the B final, and
Isabelle Gomez earned a place in the C final. Momentum continued in the 200 IM, with Mihalič qualifying for the championship final and Pholjamjumrus advancing to the B final. In the 50 free, Ferris raced her way into the championship final, while Floate earned a C‑final berth.
Prelims concluded on the boards, where Heydra topped the field to qualify for the championship final.
Izzy Wright finished 20th in prelims to earn points for the Wolf Pack with a top-24 finish.
After the first night of the four-day meet, Nevada sits in fifth place on the team leaderboard with 200.5 points.
Nevada returns to the pool tomorrow as the Mountain West Championships continue in Houston. Prelims begin at 8:30 a.m. PT with the evening finals session set for a 4 p.m. PT start.
