RENO, Nev. - Nevada drops home game against San Diego State, 68-73, on Tuesday night.
The Aztecs gained control of the game after outscoring Nevada in the paint (42-16) and on the bench (37-9).
As a team, Nevada shot 36 percent (21-for-59) from the field, 29 percent (8-for-28) from beyond the arc, and 90 percent (18-for-20) from the free throw line.
Elijah Price led the team with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds. Price was followed by
Tayshawn Comer with 16 points and two rebounds, and
Chuck Bailey III, who had 13 points and three assists.
On the defensive side, Nevada was not able to hold the Aztecs' offense, as they shot 52 percent (21-for-59) from the field, 24 percent (4-for-17) from the three, and 68 percent (13-for-19) from the free throw line. Price recorded four steals to lead the Pack.
First Half:
Nevada punched first, opening up with a 12-point lead to start the game.
San Diego State bounced back with a 10-point run of their own to bring the score within two points.
At halftime,
Tayshawn Comer led the offense for the Pack with 10 points.
Second Half:
San Diego State did not slow down coming out of the locker room, taking a five-point lead early in the half.
From that point on, the game was an all-out battle with nine lead changes and 6 tied scores.
However, after the game was tied 63-63 at the 4-minute mark, the Aztecs pulled away to steal a 73-68 win in Lawlor.
