Box Score SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Nevada Women's Basketball faced off against San Diego State on Saturday in Southern California, falling to the Aztecs, 67-54.
Key positives for Nevada were outrebounding San Diego State, 36-32, and dominating in bench points, 25-13. The Pack also had 12 second-chance points while holding the Aztecs to zero.
The game began with a 6-0 run by SDSU as the Pack failed to get its first shots to fall. Nevada made up for it as it went on a 6-0 run of its own to close the gap.
Despite San Diego State going up by 10 with under four minutes to go in the second, Nevada clawed its way back, courtesy of a 7-0 run. On the defensive side, the Pack forced the Aztecs into a scoring drought of over three and a half minutes.
After scoring the last six points of the quarter, the Pack outscored the Aztecs, 13-11, and was only down by three heading into the break.
Nevada began to falter towards the end of the third quarter. San Diego State went on an 8-1 run to grow its lead to double-digits for the second time.
The Pack failed to score for the first five minutes of the fourth as the Aztecs opened up with a 7-0 run. Nevada flipped it in the back half of the fourth with a 7-0 run of its own, but by then, it couldn't come back.
Second half woes and missed opportunities at the line told the story. Nevada fell behind by as much as 20 in the fourth quarter and only had a 67 percent free throw percentage for the entire 40.
Maia Rosarion led the Pack in scoring with a season-high 14 points. She also had six rebounds.
Imbie Jones led in boards with a season-high of eight.
Izzy Sullivan also scored in double-digits with 12 points.
Nevada will return home to take on Boise State on Wednesday in the second 'When I Grow Up' game of the season. Tip is set for 10:30 a.m.
