RENO, - Nevada women's basketball returns home for the first game of the new year, hosting Utah State on Saturday at 1 p.m.
The Pack return to Lawlor after a loss at Boise State on December 31, 74-62. Ball protection and bench points were positives in that game. Nevada had 35 points from the bench, with
Gabby Ramos recording a season high 21 of those points. She also had a season high five rebounds and three assists.Â
Kendra Hicks also had a career game with 12 points, going 4-for-6 from the floor and perfect from the charity stripe.
Nevada turned the ball over just 11 times, the second-fewest turnovers all season.Â
Defensively, the Pack struggled to stop the Broncos from scoring, as Boise State had 34 points from the paint and went 8-for-18 from deep.
Utah State enters the game after a win over San Jose State, 74-61. The Aggies had three players score at least 16 points in the victory, and two record a double-double.Â
Sophie Sene led with 19 points, going 8-for-13 from the paint, and grabbing 13 rebounds. Jamisyn Heaton also had 19 points with 10 boards. Karyn Sanford recorded 16 points, shooting 50 percent from three. She also had seven rebounds.
Despite the performances of the three individual players, Utah State only shot 38.4 percent from the paint and 20.6 percent from deep. They turned the ball over 12 times, but also grabbed eight steals.Â
The two teams split the series last season, with Nevada winning at home, 78-69, but falling on the road, 93-75. Saturday's game will be the 43rd meeting between the Pack and Aggies. Utah State currently leads the series, 22-20.Â
