BOZEMAN, Mont. - Nevada volleyball closed out its non-conference slate at the EVEN Hotel Bobcat Classic on Friday afternoon, dropping a tough battle to Santa Clara in three sets.
Nevada found itself down early before making a push to bring them within one on the middle of the opening set. Despite the bounce-back, the Pack weren't able to stop multiple runs by the Broncos that once again extended the lead. Nevada ultimately dropped set one, 25-17.
Both the second and third sets were tight races as neither team led by more than four. Nevada saw its first lead of the match come in the second set. The score was tied late in both sets, but pushes by the Broncos led to them taking the second and third, 25-23.
Despite the loss, Nevada held Santa Clara to a .250 hitting percentage in the final frame and forced 10 tie scores and four lead changes in the third set alone.
Haylee Brown led both teams in kills with 14, followed by
Nicanora Clarke with seven and
Mckaley Herr with six.
Bella Snyder recorded four blocks, with Clarke and Herr contributing with two a piece.Â
Nevada now turns its attention to conference action, opening Mountain West play on the road against Air Force on Thursday, September 25. First serve is set for 5 p.m. PT and will be streamed live on the Mountain West Network.
