Pack volleyball takes win over Pacific at home

RENO, Nev. - Nevada volleyball grabbed a 3-1 victory over Pacific on Friday, making it the Pack's second straight win at home.

Nevada carried over Thursday night's momentum as it scored the first three points of the match. The Pack continued to hold the lead early until the Tigers went on a five-point scoring run for the advantage.

Later in the set, the Pack scored three consecutive to regain the lead. A push from both sides led to multiple ties and lead changes. With the score knotted at 24, the teams traded points before Nevada grabbed two in a row, capped off by a kill from Bella Snyder, for the 27-25 first-set victory.

The Pack came out scoring first again, but this time, the Tigers responded early to take their first lead of the set. It didn't last long as a four-point scoring run, that was rounded out by back-to-back aces from Nicanora Clarke, gave the Pack the advantage again.

Nevada went up by as much as four, but three key runs from Pacific led them to take the second set, 25-23.

For the third straight set, the Pack jumped out in front first, as back-to-back kills by Haylee Brown and Jess Walkenhorst put them up by two.

The advantage stayed with Nevada through the majority of the set, only giving up the lead twice. Late in the set two kills by Clarke and an error by the Tigers gave the Pack the 28-26 win in the third.

Into the fourth and final set of the match, Pacific scored the first points for the first time, but Nevada quickly regained composure with a five-point run for the lead.

The teams continued to battle and trade the lead before the Pack went on a 7-2 scoring run to end the match with a 26-24 fourth-set victory.

Leading the Pack was Brown, who posted a team-high 17 kills, while Clarke followed closely with 12. Nevada's offense was orchestrated by Audrey Jensen, who dished out 25 assists and contributed 17 digs.

On defense, Kinsley Singleton anchored the back row with 20 digs. At the net, Snyder recorded five blocks, while Jensen had four and Kamryn Tifft contributed with three, helping to hold Pacific to a .185 hitting percentage.

Nevada will round out the Invitational tomorrow against CSU Bakersfield at 12:30 PM.
