MISSOULA, Mont. – Nevada women's soccer hit the road to Missoula on Sunday afternoon, putting together a gritty performance before ultimately falling 2-1 to the Montana Grizzlies in the final minutes of regulation.
The opening 45 minutes saw a true back-and-forth battle, with both sides creating dangerous chances but unable to find the back of the net. Nevada's backline stood tall against Montana's early pressure, while the Wolf Pack attack carved out opportunities of their own, keeping the first half scoreless.
Right out of the break, Montana came out with urgency and capitalized quickly, finding the opener in the 49th minute to grab a 1-0 lead. The Wolf Pack didn't fold, showing the same resilience, they've leaned on in previous matches. Nevada continued to press, looking for a way back into the game.
That moment came nearly 20 minutes later. Freshman forward and Reno native Ella Hallert etched her name into the scorebook, netting her first collegiate goal in the 68th minute. Hallert's finish not only evened the score at 1-1 but also injected fresh energy into Nevada as the Pack looked to turn the tide.
As the match wound down, both teams fought to gain the edge in an intense closing stretch. Unfortunately for Nevada, it was Montana who broke through once more, scoring in the 88th minute to reclaim the lead. Despite a final push from the Wolf Pack, time ran out before they could find another equalizer.
The Wolf Pack will now turn their focus to another challenging road swing as they head to Southern California. Nevada will face Long Beach State on Thursday before squaring off against Cal Baptist on Sunday.
