Wolf Pack Rallies in Second Half to Defeat Northern Arizona

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. – Nevada women's soccer showed grit and resilience Sunday afternoon, storming back in the second half to earn a 2-1 victory over Northern Arizona at Lumberjack Stadium.

The opening 45 minutes proved to be a challenge for the Wolf Pack. Northern Arizona's Morgan Caslin struck first, giving the Lumberjacks a 1-0 advantage and forcing Nevada to play from behind. The Pack worked to generate chances before the break but couldn't find the finishing touch, heading into halftime looking to regroup.

The adjustments paid off. Coming out of the locker room with renewed energy, Nevada began dictating the pace of play and applying steady pressure on the NAU back line. The breakthrough came in the 66th minute when true freshman Naima Castro buried the equalizer, marking her first collegiate goal in a Wolf Pack uniform. Just four minutes later, the Pack capitalized on their momentum again — this time through junior Olivia Loomis, who slotted home the go-ahead strike in the 70th minute to flip the score in Nevada's favor.

From there, the Pack defense locked in to protect the lead. Goalkeeper Mia Collins anchored the effort with a strong performance between the posts, coming up with timely saves and command in the box to keep Northern Arizona from finding an answer. Her efforts helped Nevada close out the match and secure the program's first road victory of the season.

With the win, Nevada improves momentum heading into the next stretch of its schedule.

Next Up: The Wolf Pack returns home to host Cal Poly on Thursday, Aug. 28, at Mackay Stadium.
