Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Aggies defeat Wolf Pack, 4-2

RENO, Nev. – Nevada Men's Tennis took its first home loss of the season, falling 4-2 to Utah State on Friday. Youssef Kadiri and Lucas Hammond recorded their 21st win of the season together, tying the Wolf Pack record for doubles wins by a duo in a season.

Kadiri and Hammond didn't waste any time, defeating Mohammad Alkotop and David Martirosian in the top-flight doubles match to tie Victor Ouvrard and Robert Allen's mark from 2014. Kadiri and Hammond beat the Aggie pair, 6-3.

A pair of tiebreaker matches highlighted the bottom two doubles matches. The Pack's Rémy Trégourès and Rayen Hermassi dominated their tiebreaker on court two, defeating Dmitri Goubin and Eliot Nobel, 7-6 (2). The third match, between Nevada's Max Contet and Paul Théate and Utah State's Sergi Mico Fenollar and Roman Venger, did not finish its tiebreaker.

The Aggies tied the match with Nobel's dominant 6-1, 6-3 win over Contet. Trégourès regained the lead for Nevada, defeating Goubin on court six, 6-3, 7-5.

Utah State swept the remaining finished matches, all of which went to third sets. Roman Venger tied the match again with his 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 win against Hermassi on court four. Alkotop came from behind to defeat Théate 3-6, 6-1, 6-3, and Mico Fenollar ran away with the third set after two close sets, 7-6 (4), 5-7, 6-2.

Hammond neared victory, leading 7-5, 6-3, 5-2 when the dual was clinched, and his match was abandoned.

Nevada moves to 1-2 in conference play with three remaining Mountain West matches. The Pack stay at McArthur Tennis Center and close out their homestand with three matches next week, starting with a 2 p.m. match against Sacramento State on Tuesday, then the final non-conference match of the season at 1 p.m. on Wednesday against UC Davis. The Pack then returns to conference play against Boise State for senior day at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 12.
