LAS VEGAS – Nevada Men's Tennis earned a 4-3 victory over rival UNLV in the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union, clinching the match with a pair of third set victories.
 
The Pack won the doubles point for the fifth time in the last six matches. Max Contet and Rayen Hermassi won their court three match, 6-3, over Vitaliy Horovoy and Joel Gibson. Rémy Trégourès and Greg Valente clinched the point for the Pack as they won a key break over Illia Maksymchuk and Roberto Hernandez to win 6-4.
 
Valente gave Nevada a 2-0 lead with a commanding 6-3, 6-0 win over Hernandez on court six. The Rebels would make a run, winning three consecutive points. First, Horovoy defeated Trégourès 6-1, 6-2 on court four. Then, Ilia Snitari defeated Youssef Kadiri in the top-flight match, 6-2, 6-4. Finally, Maksymchuk defeated Hammond 6-3, 6-1 on court two.
 
The Pack turned the dual around as Hermassi and Contet each won their third sets after falling in the second set. Hermassi, playing on court three, won his first set 6-3, before Thomas Navarro won the second set by the same score. Hermassi jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the deciding set, but Navarro tied the set quickly. Hermassi broke Navarro, winning the set and the match, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
 
On court five, Contet won his first set 6-4, before falling 6-2 in the second frame to Gibson. Contet took control of the match, winning 6-2 in the final set to clinch the victory for the Pack.
 
Nevada heads into the final match of the season with a 2-3 record in conference play, facing 1-4 San Diego State at 12 p.m. on Saturday. A Pack win or an Air Force loss would secure the four-seed for Nevada at the Mountain West Championships next week.
