Bronco comeback ends Pack’s upset bid on Senior Day

RENO, Nev. – Nevada Men's Tennis lost its final home match of the season, 4-1, to Boise State. The Broncos made a huge comeback to spoil senior day for the Pack.

The Pack's seniors, Youssef Kadiri and Lucas Hammond, opened their senior day with a dominant 6-2 top-flight doubles victory against Jett Middleton and James Van Herzeele. Kadiri and Hammond's victory tied the program record for doubles victories by a pair in a single season at 21.

John Chin and Carson Baker tied the doubles session with a 6-4 win over Max Contet and Rayen Hermassi on court three.

The Pack clinched the doubles point on court two in a thrilling match between Rémy Trégourès and Greg Valente and Boise State's Julius Seifert and Taiyo Kurata. Each team broke serve twice in the opening five games, leading to a 3-2 Nevada lead. The serving team held serve for the rest of the match, forcing a tiebreaker. The Pack jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the tiebreaker, but Boise State responded, winning both of their service points. The Broncos broke a point from Trégourès's serve to climb to 4-5, however, Nevada broke back, allowing each team to hold serve and cruise to a Nevada win 7-5.

Nevada was off to a strong start in the singles session, winning five of the six first sets. The Boise State comeback began on court three, where after losing the first set 6-0 to Rayen Hermassi, Lukas Velik won the second and third sets 6-0, 6-4.

Idriss Haddouch gave Boise State the lead with a pair of dominant set victories to close a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 win over Max Contet on court three. On court four, Van Herzeele won a pair of sets, 6-3, after Trégourès won the opening set 6-2.

Carson Baker fell 6-4 to Lucas Hammond in the first set but won the following sets 6-0, 6-2.

The Pack were looking up in the two abandoned singles matches. Kadiri won the second set in a thrilling 8-6 tiebreaker to force a third set, which #116 Middleton led 3-2 when the match was abandoned. Valente was tied 5-5 with Chin in the third set when the match was abandoned.
