Kadiri clinches 4-3 victory over Hawai’i to finish Golden Gate Invitational

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Youssef Kadiri reached the quarter-century mark in singles victories this season with his dual-clinching victory against No. 86 Azuma Visaya. His 25th win is the third-most in a single season in Nevada history.

The Wolf Pack completed the comeback after dropping the doubles session. Kadiri and Rayen Hermassi paired on court one to defeat Visaya and Tianhao Hou, 6-0. However, Quinn Snyder and Andy Hernandez, as well as Karl Collins and Diego Dalisay, picked up 6-3 victories on courts two and three to lead Hawai'i to the doubles point and an early lead.

That lead did not last long, as Axel Huysmans finished his stellar weekend with a 6-1, 6-0 victory to tie the dual. Huysmans finished the weekend 4-2 overall, playing as high as No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles.

Rémy Trégourès also picked up a big win, defeating Hou 6-2, 6-1 on court five.

Quinn Snyder tied the dual for Hawai'i, winning the No. 2 singles match 6-3, 6-2 over Lucas Hammond.

Greg Valente won the No. 6 singles match, showing the depth of Nevada's lineup by winning the bottom three matches. Valente won a strong 6-2 first set and fought to a 7-6 (3) second-set victory.

Collins brought the dual even once again, defeating Hermassi in comeback fashion, 4-6, 6-4, 6-1.

Kadiri got his revenge on Visaya after losing the dual opener to him in January. Kadiri won the first set 7-6 (4) before a key break won Visaya the second set. Kadiri prevailed in the third set, breaking Visaya twice to win 6-2.

Nevada is scheduled to open its home campaign next weekend against Saint Mary's on March 15 at 12 p.m.
