RENO, Nev. - Sophomore
Scarlett Ferris will compete at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships for the second-consecutive year, following the NCAA's announcement of the 2025 meet field Wednesday.
Ferris will compete in her signature event, the 100 backstroke, for the second year in a row, and at this year's meet was invited to swim in the 50 freestyle and 100 butterfly.
At last year's national meet, Ferris finished 25th in the 100 back in a time of 51.94, at the time her second lifetime best.
Ferris is coming off of a 2025 Mountain West Championships performance in which she successfully defended her 2024 crown in the 100 back. The gold medal highlighted a meet in which she earned five medals (one gold, two silver, two bronze) and claimed All-Mountain West honors in the five events in which she medaled: 100 back (gold), 50 free (silver), 100 fly (silver), 200 free relay (bronze), and 400 medley relay (bronze).
Her performances in the 50 free this season include setting the Nevada program record on multiple occasions, most recently lowering the mark to 22.26 in the Mountain West championship final. Swimming the 100 fly for the first time at the conference meet last month, Ferris took silver in 52.74.
The 2025 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships are set for March 19-22 at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash.
ESPN+ will provide live digital coverage for preliminary and finals sessions Wednesday through Saturday (March 19-22). Tape-delayed coverage of the women's championships will be on ESPNU at 4 p.m. PT, Wednesday, March 26.
