Nevada adds four medals, finishes fourth at Mountain West Championships

2025 Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships - Day 4
Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025
Houston, Texas - CRWC Natatorium

HOUSTON - Nevada collected four more medals Saturday night, as the Wolf Pack finished fourth at the 2025 Mountain West Swimming & Diving Championships.

The top-four team finish is Nevada's 11th in 13 seasons in the Mountain West, and at this week's meet Wolf Pack swimmers and divers won 16 medals (three gold, seven silver, six bronze).

Eleven different swimmers and divers earned a medal, led by Scarlett Ferris (five), Enkhkhuslen Batbayar (four), and diver Bailey Heydra (three), who each captured a gold medal.

Heydra capped a career meet with a silver medal on platform. Heydra, who needed her final dive of prelims to squeeze into the eighth and final qualifying spot for the championship round, shot into medal contention with dives of 68.60 and 69.00 in the third and fourth rounds of the final. It naturally took a near-perfect dive to derail her hopes for a second gold medal of the meet, and that's exactly what came from San Diego State's Valentina Lopez Arevalo in the fourth round. Lopez Arevalo scored 10s from five judges, earning a score of 87.00 to overtake Heydra and hold on for gold with a score of 325.95 to Heydra's 304.00.

For Heydra, she left the meet with gold in the 1-Meter Springboard and silvers on 3-Meter and Platform.

Lucia Gabino was edged out of a podium finish late, finishing fourth with a score of 282.80.

Keira-Lee Allott won the first medal of the night for the Pack, claiming silver in the grueling 1,650 free in 16:21.51. Audrey Bull and Charlotte Berndt took 19th and 24th, respectively, to earn points for Nevada.

The remaining Nevada medals on the night came in the 200 butterfly, as newcomer Sally Vagg took silver in 1:57.52 and Yasmin Perry earned bronze with a time of 1:59.55. Bull finished 14th to contribute more points to the Wolf Pack haul.

Additional point-scorers Saturday night for Nevada included Riley Parker (11th) and Molly Von Seggern (15th), and Charlotte Berndt (20th) in the 200 back, Batbayar (14th), Abby Parks (18th), and Evie Floate (19th) in the 100 free, Sara Mihalic (eighth) and Anslee Dickerson (24th) in the 200 breast, and Evie Wood (22nd) in the 200 fly.

San Diego State captured the team title with 1,283 points.
