RENO, Nev. - In a heartbreaker at the Lawlor Events Center, Nevada fell just short against Boise State, losing 70-69 in a game down to the final seconds. The match up featured 14 lead changes and six ties as both teams battled fiercely from start to finish. Despite a standout performance from Kobe Sanders, who poured in 30 points, and a strong showing from Nick Davidson with 18 points, late turnovers and missed opportunities proved costly for the Wolf Pack. On the other side, Boise State was led by Andrew Meadow's 24 points and Javan Buchanan's 17 points, both of whom made critical plays.
First Half
Nevada came out with energy and precision, quickly building a 10-point lead thanks to early scoring bursts from Sanders and Davidson. Their defense stifled Boise State early, forcing turnovers and converting on fast-break opportunities.
The Wolf Pack's ability to dominate in the paint and capitalize on Boise State's mistakes gave them early control of the game. However, Boise State clawed their way back with an 11-point scoring run led by Meadow, a force inside and on second-chance opportunities. Despite controlling much of the half, the Wolf Pack went into halftime trailing narrowly, 34-32, after a late surge from Boise State shifted the momentum.
Second Half
Nevada kept the pressure on with Sanders continuing his offensive dominance, finishing with an impressive 30 points on 13-19 shooting. The Wolf Pack regained the lead midway through the half, fueled by key baskets from Davidson and strong efforts from Tyler Rolison.
Nevada's ball movement and transition game helped them stay competitive, while their defense forced several crucial turnovers. However, in the game's final moments, a costly turnover led to a fast-break dunk by Meadow, putting Boise State ahead with seconds remaining. Nevada had one last chance to steal the win, but a missed free throw and a defensive rebound by Boise State sealed the defeat for the Wolf Pack, leaving the crowd stunned after a hard-fought battle.
