SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Nevada Wolf Pack overcame a slow start with a dominant second-half performance to defeat San Jose State 73-58 at the Provident Credit Union Event Center. After trailing by one at halftime, Nevada surged in the final 20 minutes, outscoring the Spartans 47-31 to secure the victory.
Kobe Sanders led the Wolf Pack with 18 points, nine assists, and three steals, orchestrating the offense with poise. Brandon Love was a force in the paint, contributing 13 points and five rebounds, while Justin McBride added 12 points and five boards of his own. Nick Davidson rounded out the top performers with 11 points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
First Half
San Jose State started hot, building a 10-point lead in the first half behind the shooting of Latrell Davis, who finished with 17 points and three rebounds, and Sadraque NgaNga, who chipped in 10 points and five rebounds. Nevada struggled offensively early, shooting 41.4 percent in the first half, but key buckets from Davidson and Love kept the game within reach. A late layup by Love in the half's final seconds brought the Wolf Pack within one, trailing 27-26 at the break.
Second Half
The second half belonged to Nevada. An 11-0 run, capped by a Sanders three-pointer at the 16:48 mark, gave the Wolf Pack their first lead at 35-33. From there, the team never looked back, shooting 62.1 percent from the field in the second half while holding San Jose State to just 32.1 percent.
McBride energized the team with two powerful dunks, and Sanders continued to set up his teammates, finding Love for an and-one layup that extended the lead to 62-45. The defense clamped down in the final minutes, forcing turnovers and converting in transition.
In the final seconds, Sanders sealed the win with a deep three-pointer, capping off Nevada's dominant second-half effort. With the win, Nevada improves to 15-10 (7-7 MW) and looks to carry this momentum into their next matchup.
