Box Score FRESNO, Calif. - For the second time in the regular season, Nevada women's basketball faced off with Fresno State, this time on the road. The Pack earned a double-digit victory over the Bulldogs with a final score of 67-55
With seven rebounds on the night,
Lexie Givens reached third all-time in program history. She was also one of three Nevada players to score at least 13Â points. Givens tallied 14, while
Audrey Roden led with 15 and
Izzy Sullivan had 13. Sullivan also tied her career high in rebounds with six.
The first quarter started slow for the Pack as they were working to gain their rhythm. They found themselves down 6-0 as the Bulldogs opened with two threes.Â
Dymonique Maxie got the first points for Nevada with a layup off of a Fresno State turnover. Givens then followed it up with a jumper to cut the lead to two.Â
With just over five minutes remaining in the opening 10,
Victoria Davis knocked down two from the charity line to tie the game up at six.Â
Fresno State hit a three for the lead again, but
Imbie Jones took it to the other end in the next possession and splashed one of her own.Â
Nevada grabbed its first lead with under a minute to go when Davis had a layup to put the Pack in front, 15-13. Givens added on to take a 17-13 advantage into the second quarter.
Roden opened up the second by adding onto the scoring run with a layup. From there, Fresno State went on a scoring run of its own to tie it up at 19. Nevada regained the lead off of a three by Givens, 22-19, with under four minutes until the break.Â
Despite Fresno State cutting the lead to one,
Imbie Jones and Sullivan combined to put the Pack up by six with a layup and a three, respectively. The Pack saw their largest lead of the half when Maxie had a three of her own to put them up by eight.
At the half, Nevada held the lead, 30-22.
Each time the Bulldogs tried to cut into the lead in the third quarter, the Pack extended it again. Nevada held the lead for the entire third quarter, never letting Fresno State closer than three.Â
Into the final 10, the Pack were up by nine, 46-37.Â
Quarter four saw Nevada's largest lead of the game. Jones opened up the final 10 with a made free throw, followed by a jumper by Sullivan to put the Pack up by 12. Later on, Davis knocked down a three to put Nevada up by 15.Â
Through the entire final quarter, Fresno State never got closer than eight. The Wolf Pack held off the Bulldogs and grabbed the win on the road. They outscored their opponent in every quarter, and held the Bulldogs to just 35% from the paint.
Nevada will next play at home, hosting UNLV in the Silver State Series on Saturday at 1 PM.
