Box Score USAFA, Colo. - Nevada women's basketball closed out opening week of conference play falling on the road to Air Force, 61-45.
The first quarter was a close battle with each team scoring on their first possession. Nevada stayed within three as each team failed to score for almost four minutes. The Falcons went up by five before
Britain Backus banked in a three to get the Wolf Pack within two. Later in the quarter,
Ahrray Young had a three of her own to tie the game at 11. Air Force went back up by two heading into the second, 13-11.
Nevada fell into a five-and-a-half-minute drought in the second quarter, while Air Force went on an 11-0 run that included three consecutive makes from beyond the arc. The third quarter saw another five-minute scoring slump for Nevada. By then, Air Force had extended its lead to 20.
Despite the Pack outscoring the Falcons in the final quarter, 21-15, the hole was too deep for Nevada to come out of.
The Pack improved on its rebounding struggles from the previous game, being nearly even with Air Force, grabbing 36 boards to the Falcons' 38. Nevada struggled from the floor and from three, only shooting 26 percent and 15.8 percent, respectively.
Skylar Durley led the Pack in scoring with 18 points, while recording five rebounds, two blocks and a steal.
Chloe Williams grabbed 10 boards to go with a block.
Nevada will have an 11-day break for the holidays before heading back out on the road to face Boise Stats on December 31 at 1 p.m.
