RENO, Nev. - Nevada volleyball continued its home stand on Saturday afternoon, dropping a four-set match to San José State.
The Pack started the first set strong with kills from
Jess Walkenhorst and
Nicanora Clarke, keeping pace early. They tied the set at 8-8 after a kill from
Haylee Brown and got their first lead after a block from Walkenhorst and
Kamryn Tifft.
Both teams kept it within one of each other until late in the set. Nevada couldn't overcome a late push from San José State, falling in the opener, 25-20.
Set two went in favor of the Pack for the first half before the found themselves trailing, 12-11. Nevada was unable to get its momentum back in the second, dropping it 25-21.
The third set was Nevada's best, taking the lead from the beginning and never allowing San José State to get in front. The Pack went up by as much as seven and ultimately took the third, 25-22.
After forcing a fourth, the Pack weren't able to even up the match, dropping the last set with a score of 25-12.
Brown led both teams in kills with 14. Tifft had three blocks, while
Bella Snyder and
Audrey Jensen contributed with two.
Nevada will remain at home to host New Mexico on November 13 at 6 PM.
