Box Score RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's basketball won at home on Friday night, taking down Alabama A&M, 57-52.
The Pack (3-2) were led by
Chloe Williams with 12 points, going 5-for-7 from the field with two rebounds and a steal.
Izzy Sullivan had 11 points with a rebound and two steals.
Gabby Ramos also had a strong night with nine points, three rebounds, a steal and two assists.
Williams knocked down the first shot of the game with a turn around jumper two minutes into the opening 10. She then followed it up with a layup to put the Pack up 4-0 early.
Alabama A&M (1-4) got its first lead off of a three before Nevada's defense forced a scoring drought from the Bulldogs for over three minutes. On offense, the Pack went up by as much as five with four points coming from
Skylar Durley and
Gabby Ramos adding on with two free throws.
At the end of one, Nevada was in front, 16-14.
The second quarter was back-and-forth with four ties and six lead changes. With just over one minute left until the break, Ramos grabbed a steal and took it to the other end for two, putting the Pack up 23-22. The Bulldogs answered before Ramos went in for a layup to tie the game at 25.
After a made free throw by Alabama A&M, Nevada was down by just one, 26-25, heading into halftime.
The Pack played from behind for the first four minutes of the third. Sullivan knocked down a pair from the charity stripe to give the Pack their first lead of the quarter, 30-29.
Halfway through the third, following a layup by the Bulldogs, the Pack got in front again and held on until the end of the quarter. Nevada went up by as much as seven when Williams scored a layup.
With just 10 minutes remaining in the game, Nevada was leading Alabama A&M, 40-36.
Tahj-Monet Bloom kicked off the final quarter with fire, extending the Pack's lead after hitting a layup of her own. Nevada continued to add on while limiting Alabama A&M. The Bulldogs were unable to score until three minutes into the fourth. They attempted a comeback, cutting the lead to three, but the Pack rallied around a steal by Sullivan that led to a layup by Carter to keep the momentum going.
With under 30 seconds remaining in the game, the Bulldogs cut the lead back down to three. However, Sullivan sealed the game by scoring the next five points for the Pack.
As a team, Nevada forced 22 turnovers and scored 20 points off of them. The Pack had 29 total rebounds and eight steals.
Nevada will have a quick turnaround and remain at home to host Utah Valley on Monday at 6:30 PM.
