Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Nevada falls first time in the season to Santa Clara

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Nevada fell at Santa Clara, 98-83, on Saturday. Corey Camper Jr. led the Pack offense with 21 points, which tied his career high. Camper Jr. also recorded four rebounds and an assist.

Comer was followed by Tayshawn Comer who finished with 19 points, three assists, and a rebound.

Despite Nevada (3-1) shooting 44.8 percent from the field, including 50 percent from behind the arc, Santa Clara's defense came out hot from the start, with 11 blocks and eight steals that forced 16 points off turnovers. The Broncos (4-0) were also hot from the floor, finishing the game 38-for-61 for 62 percent, including a 12-for-25 outing from behind the arc.

Nevada had another big game in the glass with 29 rebounds recorded as a team. Chuck Bailey III was the leader of the Pack with 6 rebounds.

First Half:
The Broncos took the lead early on after a 6-0 run early in the game. The Pack responded by cutting the deficit to 15-12 at the 14-minute mark with a 3-point jumper by Camper Jr.

Santa Clara continued to control the game, increasing the margin to 17 points for a 38-21 score in the 7-minute mark. Nevada once again responded, but their efforts were not enough, as the half closed with Santa Clara leading 48-34.

Second Half:
Nevada's defense continued to struggle, particularly with protecting the paint, as Santa Clara scored repeatedly near the basket. The Broncos got their highest lead of the game with a 22-point difference in the 13-minute mark. The Pack was able to cut the deficit to 82-71 with a Tyler Rolison 3-point jumper, but was unable to get close to the Broncos, ending the game 98-83.
