Jacob Van Roekel named voice of Nevada Women’s Basketball

RENO, Nev. – Jacob Van Roekel has been named the play-by-play voice of Nevada Women's Basketball for the 2025-26 season.

Nevada Women's Basketball opens its 2025-26 campaign Monday, Nov. 3, hosting Cal State San Marcos at 6:30 p.m. at Lawlor Events Center. Fans can listen to Nevada's games on CBS Sports Radio, 94.1 FM/1450 AM.

Van Roekel joins the Wolf Pack from the Bay Area, where he called the action for the Women's Premier Basketball Association in addition to numerous sports at both Stanford and his alma mater, CSU Monterey Bay. Along with calling basketball, Van Roekel also handled the calls of : ice hockey, volleyball, softball, baseball, golf, soccer, and rugby.

"This is a dream come true--I am beyond excited to be the new voice of Nevada Women's Basketball and continue my broadcasting career at the Division I level," said Van Roekel. "I could not have made it without the help of my mentors and family, and I am truly grateful for this opportunity. I am looking forward to displaying my energy and excitement on the headset for the Wolf Pack and our fans."

On top of his broadcasting duties, Van Roekel served as a Communications Assistant for the Golden State Valkyries in the club's debut WNBA campaign in 2025. Prior to his role with the Valkyries, he served in the same role for Bay FC during its own NWSL debut season of 2024.

Van Roekel is a graduate of CSU Monterey Bay, where he played on the men's golf team.
