RENO, Nev. — The Nevada men's basketball team capped off its preseason with a strong showing at Lawlor Events Center, defeating Eastern Washington 73-52 in its final exhibition game before opening the regular season on November 4 against Louisiana Tech.
The Wolf Pack displayed balanced scoring and defensive energy throughout, outscoring the Eagles 36-16 in the paint, turning 21 Eastern Washington turnovers into 31 points, and holding the visitors to just 40 percent shooting from the field.
Junior guard Vaughn Weems led the Pack off the bench, scoring 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting while adding two assists, two steals, and a block. Elijah Price was a force inside once again, posting 10 points and six rebounds, including several key second-chance buckets. Chuck Bailey III contributed 11 points, hitting two three-pointers and going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line.
Nevada jumped out to an early double-digit lead in the first half behind strong bench play, taking a 35-20 advantage into halftime. The Pack continued their momentum in the second half, extending their lead to as many as 24 with efficient scoring in transition and improved defensive rotations.
