LARAMIE, Wyo. - Nevada volleyball played its lone road game of the week on Thursday night, suffering a loss to Wyoming in four sets.
The opening set was a struggle to start for the Pack, quickly finding themselves down 5-0 after a run by the Cowgirls. They then answered back with five consecutive points of their own to tie the set early at five all.
The teams traded points throughout the middle of the set, before Wyoming went on a 6-0 run to create distance. Once again, the Pack surged back with kills by
Mckaley Herr,
Audrey Jensen,
Bella Snyder and
Haylee Brown, to tie the set at 22.
Despite the late surge, Nevada dropped the first, 25-22.
Set two was just as competitive as the first, with the teams battling for the advantage. Late in the set, Nevada went on a 5-0 run to grab its largest lead of the second and bring it to set point at 24-20. Snyder went on to clinch it and tie the match at two sets a piece.
Nevada continued to keep pace through the third with 10 ties and four lead changes. However, the Pack couldn't top the Cowgirls, falling in the third, 25-22.
Into the fourth and final, Nevada struggled to maintain momentum as Wyoming came away with the 25-16 win.
Nevada's top performer was Brown, who posted 16 kills and 16.5 points, while
Jess Walkenhorst added 11 kills. Jensen contributed with a season high 40 assists and nine digs, and
