RENO, Nev. - Nevada volleyball hosted UNLV in the Silver State Series, falling in four sets to the Rebels.
The Pack started out slow as the Rebels went on a 6-0 run in the beginning of the first. Nevada continued to hang around, coming within two late in the set as back-to-back errors on UNLV made the score 23-21. However, two consecutive points by the Rebels ended the first, 25-21.
Set two belonged to the Pack as they didn't allow the Rebels past 12 points. To open the second, the Pack scored twice before the Rebels tied it up. It didn't last long as Nevada owned the next five straight points. Nevada continued to build on its lead while controlling UNLV defensively. The Rebels were held to just a .042 hitting percentage in set two. The Pack closed out the second with six straight points that saw kills by
Nicanora Clarke,
Audrey Jensen and
Bella Snyder.
The teams fought for advantage in the third set as they traded points to open it up. Nevada was unable to hold onto its momentum from the second as UNLV began to pull away and ultimately took the set, 25-15.
Nevada wasn't going to go down without a fight as the fourth set saw 12 ties and five lead changes. When it seemed the fourth could go either way, the Pack found themselves down by four as the Rebels went on a late five-point run. Nevada brought it back within two, but it wasn't enough, ultimately dropping the fourth with a score of 25-22.
Haylee Brown led the Pack in kills with 12, as Jensen had a season high 32 assists.Â
Nevada will be back on its home court on Saturday, hosting San Diego State at 12 PM.
