RENO, Nev. - Nevada volleyball closed out its two-game homestand on Saturday afternoon, falling in three sets to San Diego State.
The teams traded points to open the game and kept it close through the first half. San Diego State kept attempting to create distance, but the Pack fought back to close the gap and even take the lead a few times.Â
Tied at 20, Nevada wasn't able to stop a five-point run by San Diego State, ultimately dropping the first, 25-20.
Set two opened up with consecutive kills by
Nicanora Clarke to put the Pack up, 2-0. Nevada continued to hold the lead through the first eight points before San Diego State got its first of the set at 9-8.Â
It was an even battle until the Aztecs once again went on a run to close out the set, this time at 25-18.
Into the third, Nevada came out with the first two points again. The teams continued to keep pace with each other with 13 ties and nine lead changes. It was the closest of the three sets in terms of scoring, but the Pack fell, 25-22.
Clarke led the Pack in kills with 10, followed by
Mckaley Herr with nine.
Audrey Jensen led both teams in assists with 28.
Nevada will head back on the road to face San Jose State at 6 PM on October 9.Â
