RENO, Nev. — Nevada Women's Soccer got on the board early but couldn't maintain the momentum, falling 3–1 to New Mexico in Sunday's Mountain West matchup at Mackay Stadium.
Freshman Naima Castro opened the scoring just five minutes in, converting a penalty kick for her fourth goal of the season. The Lobos answered with a penalty of their own to tie it up, then added a second goal before halftime to take the lead.
New Mexico struck again early in the second half to extend its advantage. Despite several attacking pushes, Nevada couldn't find the back of the net again.
The Pack now heads to Colorado for a two-match road trip, taking on Colorado College on Thursday and Air Force on Sunday.
