HONOLULU – Nevada Women's Tennis lost 4-3 in the 2025 season opener to Hawai'i.
The Wolf Pack opened the dual match strongly, winning the doubles point through two 6-4 victories. Freshman
Petra Janigova and
Wiem Boubaker opened the dual with the first victory of the match, defeating Hannah Galindo and Makeilah Nepomuceno, 6-4 on court three. Junior
Marlene Foerster and Kansas transfer
Silvia-Maria Costache defeated the Rainbow Wahine's top duo, Ana Vilcek and Nikola Homolkova, 6-4 to clinch the doubles point.
Hawai'i tied up the dual with Peppi Ramstedt's win on court three, swiftly defeating Costache, 6-1, 6-1. Nevada retook the lead with Boubaker's dominant 6-1, 6-3 victory on court five.
Vilcek tied the match again, beating the Wolf Pack's top singles player, Amahée Charrier, 6-2, 6-4. Hawai'i then took the lead for the first time with Homolkova's 6-4, 7-6 (6), win against Foerster.
Hawai'i clinched their first victory of the season after a tale of momentum on court six. Joelle Lanz took a commanding lead after winning the first set, 6-2. Janigova, in her collegiate dual debut, fought back, winning the second set, 6-1. However, Lanz pulled out the three-set victory, defeating Janigova 6-2, in the final set.
Nevada earned a consolation point with
Lou-Anne Guerbert's 6-7 (6), 6-0, 6-2 win over Emma Forgac on court four.
The Wolf Pack will look to bounce back tomorrow, taking on Hawai'i Pacific at 1 p.m. PT.
