KAILUA, Hawaii - Nevada Women's Tennis leaves Hawaii 1-1 following a 7-0 sweep of Hawai'i Pacific, Friday.
The Pack got out to a quick start with a pair of doubles victories to win the opening point. Amahée Charrier and
Kennedy Robinson combined for their first doubles win of the season after abandoning their match on Thursday. Charrier and Robinson defeated Annika Hakovirta and Emily Castillo, 6-3.
Petra Janigova and
Wiem Boubaker won their second match together in as many days, defeating Sayda Hernandez and Rosa Viller Møller, 6-1.
In singles play, Nevada earned five straight-set wins and only dropped seven total games through the bottom four flights.
Lou-Anne Guerbert had the best outing for the Wolf Pack, defeating Jayanne Palma, 6-0, 6-0. Silvia Maria Costache had a near perfect match, beating Castillo, 6-1, 6-0.
Boubaker won her match on court five, 6-0, 6-2 against Hakovirta. Robinson made her first singles appearance of the spring, beating Møller, 6-1, 6-3.
Atop the card, Charrier easily defeated Evi Roobol 6-1 in the first set, before facing some challenge in a 6-3 victorious set.
Hawai'i Pacific's Hernandez was the only player to take a set off of the Wolf Pack all day. After
Marlene Foerster took the first frame, 6-3, Hernandez tied the match with a 6-4 set win of her own. Foerster won in a nailbiting super tiebreaker, 11-9.
Nevada will return to dual play on February 1, when Tonelli's squad visits La Jolla, Calif. for a neutral site match against Pomona-Pitzer, following by a match at UC San Diego on February 2.
