Box Score LARAMIE, Wyo. - After a two-game homestretch, Nevada women's basketball hit the road again, taking on Wyoming. The Wolf Pack's comeback efforts fell short to the Cowgirls, 66-61.
Lexie Givens and
Audrey Roden each had milestone nights. Givens reached eighth all-time in scoring and fifth all-time in rebounds, while Roden reached sixth all-time in scoring.Â
They each tallied 13 points on the night, with Roden grabbing six boards and Givens adding five.
Wyoming put up the first four points of the game before
Izzy Sullivan got two back with a jumper in the paint. The Cowgirls tried to pull away, going up by eight, before the Pack hit back-to-back threes to get back within two. Givens splashed the first one, followed by Roden.Â
At the end of the first, Wyoming had extended the lead again, Nevada trailing 20-14 heading into the second.Â
Quarter two began with a made free throw by Givens to cut the lead to five.Â
Nevada struggled to hold off Wyoming through the remainder of the second, trailing by 11 into halftime, with a score of 41-30.
Despite the Cowgirls extending their lead to 13 early in the third quarter, the Pack fought to cut it back to six with just under five minutes remaining. Givens was the leader in the comeback efforts, hitting a jumper, three and two free throws.
Roden continued to get the Pack to cut into the lead, knocking down a jumper to put them back within four.Â
After Wyoming hit a few shots of its own for an eight-point lead,
Victoria Davis knocked down a buzzer-beater three.
Heading into the final 10, Nevada was down, 52-47.
Into the fourth quarter, the Pack turned up the intensity even more. Two times they got within three points. The first came in the opening minute of the fourth when Givens had a good jumper. The second was in the final two minutes when Sullivan had a much needed three.Â
However, the pressure and fire from the Pack wasn't enough as they fell just short to the Cowgirls.
Nevada will remain on the road to face Boise State on Saturday at 1 PM PST.
