KAILUA, Hawaii – Nevada Men's Tennis opened the season 1-0 after earning a 7-0 victory over Hawai'i Pacific.
Â
The Pack scored their first point of the season with a dominant doubles session. San Francisco transfer Paul Théate and freshman
Max Contet paired up for the first time, defeating Jon William Karlstad and Adam Vasir, 6-1. Nevada clinched the doubles point with a victory on court one by transfers
Lucas Hammond and
Rayen Hermassi. Hammond, transferring from West Alabama, and Hermassi, from Montana State, defeated the Sharks' top duo, Jakub Beran and Mile Matic, 6-2.
Â
Three straight-set victories by the transfers propelled Nevada to clinch the match win. Hermassi made his first dual appearance for the Wolf Pack on court five. Hermassi defeated Karlstad, 6-2, 6-2. Théate and Hammond also picked up singles wins in their Nevada dual debuts. Théate defeated Vasir, 6-4, 6-3, on court three, while Hammond beat Matic, 6-2, 7-5 to clinch the dual on court two.
Â
Nevada kept tacking on the points following the clinch, starting with Contet's first collegiate dual victory coming against Arthur Pery, 5-7, 6-1, [10-7]. Wolf Pack sophomore
Rémy Trégourès played out his third set against Finnegan Heber after winning set one, 6-2, and dropping the second set, 6-3. Trégourès prevailed in the third set, defeating Heber, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Nevada's number one,
