Box Score RENO, Nev. - Nevada women's basketball had a big win over Utah State on Saturday afternoon, downing the Aggies with a final score of 78-69.
Five Pack players ended the day in double-digits in scoring, with
Lexie Givens leading the way and recording her fourth double-double of the season. Givens had 16 points to go with 10 rebounds. She also had two blocks and two steals.
Audrey Roden and
Victoria Davis each had 14 points.
Imbie Jones and
Izzy Sullivan contributed with 12 a piece.
Roden and Givens also reached major milestones, the former hitting seventh all-time in scoring and the latter landing in the tenth spot.Â
Dymonique Maxie kicked things off this afternoon with a steal that she took to the other end to put the Pack up, 2-0. Utah State tied it up, but Givens quickly put Nevada back in front with a layup of her own.Â
Nevada held the lead for nearly the entire game. There were only three ties and two lead changes, all coming in the opening 10. Once the Pack jumped in front with two and a half to go in the first quarter, they never gave it up again.Â
Heading into the second, Nevada was leading, 21-15. The Pack continued to build on to their lead before the half, going up by as much as eight. Defensively, Nevada didn't allow Utah State to get closer than four points through the entire second.Â
At the break, the Pack was up, 45-37.
Nevada opened the second half by going up by double digits for the first time in the game. Givens knocked down a jumper to put the Pack up by 10. From there, they saw their largest lead of 15 come in the third quarter.
Utah State cut the lead back to two later on, but before heading into the final 10, Nevada pulled ahead again by as much as seven. To start the fourth quarter, the Pack were up, 64-59.
Into the closing quarter, the Aggies cut it close again, this time coming within one. However, the offense of Nevada continued to hit shots, allowing them to add on again. The Pack closed out the game with a nine-point victory.
Nevada will head out on the road again, taking on Wyoming on January 15 and Boise State on January 18.
