RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Nevada women's volleyball continued its impressive start to the season by going undefeated in the Riverside Classic preseason tournament, capping the weekend with a commanding 3-0 sweep (26-24, 25-15, 25-16) against UC Riverside at the SRC Arena.
The Wolf Pack showcased a balanced attack and resilient defense to secure their seventh win of the season, improving their overall record to 7-2. Leading the charge, Gabby McLaughlin and Bella Snyder both registered 11 kills. While Carissa Chainey contributed nine kills to add to the team's 40.
Setter Tehya Maeva orchestrated the offense, delivering 25 assists, and six digs. McLaughlin led the team with seven digs. Nevada's defensive effort was further strengthened by Kinsley Singleton with six digs and Snyder with two block assists.
Nevada took control early in the match, battling through a tight first set. With clutch kills from Chainey and Snyder, the Wolf Pack edged UC Riverside 26-24. The second set saw Nevada shift into a higher gear, overwhelming the Highlanders 25-15 behind the Wolf Pack's dominant offense. Sealing the set with a service ace from Maeva. In the final set, McLaughlin's steady contributions helped seal the 25-16 victory, completing the sweep.
With the 3-0 performance in the Riverside Classic, Nevada will now turn its attention to the UCF Tournament, where they are set to face UCF and Maryland next weekend.
Nevada continues to build momentum as they prepare for tougher competition on the road, with sights set on extending their winning streak in the upcoming matchups.
