RENO, Nev. - Nevada Women's Basketball has announced the addition of Washington State Alum, Ula Motuga, to the staff as an Assistant Coach.
Motuga, originally from Logan City, Australia, graduated from WSU with her Bachelor's in 2022 and her Master's in 2024.Â
As a player, she spent five years in a Cougars uniform, after exhausting her COVID eligibility. Motuga ended her career with the most games played in program history and sits at eighth all-time for WSU Women's Basketball in total rebounds.Â
"We are excited to welcome Ula to our Wolf Pack family. She comes from a great program in Washington State where she played a huge role both on the court and as a team captain," said Head Coach
Amanda Levens.
Motuga helped take the team from just nine wins when she came into the program as a freshman, to 23 wins and a Pac-12 Tournament Championship.Â
Levens touched on Motuga's experience saying, "She was integral in their Pac-12 Championship and three NCAA appearances. Ula will be very impactful as a mentor for our team as well as working closely with our post players."Â
Besides her accomplishments on the court, Motuga was selected to the Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll four times. She was also a Graduate Assistant for Student-Athlete Development in 2023-24.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to be joining the Nevada Women's Basketball program and to learn and grow under the guidance of Coach Levens and her staff," said Motuga. "I am thrilled to be in this position and look forward to serving and preparing our players for life as student-athletes, young adults and women of the future. I am excited to be involved with this great community and immersing myself in the Wolf Pack traditions. Go Pack!"
