FULLERTON, Calif. -Â Nevada Women's Soccer suffered its first defeat of the young campaign Thursday night, falling 5-1 at Cal State Fullerton.
Olivia Loomis' equalizer in the 13th minute, her third goal in as many matches to open the season, was the lone bright spot for the Wolf Pack on the night. Her tally was a quick answer by Nevada to Isabella Cruz's eighth-minute opener for the Titans, and came once again on a cross from
Emily Rich on the right flank. Loomis got a foot on the centering pass and beat the keeper, and was credited with the goal as a Titan defender put it into the net in a futile effort to clear.
But the goal was one of the few times Nevada (2-1-0) truly threatened in the match. Fullerton kept pressure on the Wolf Pack back line and goalkeeper
Alyssa Szarlacki, and the effort paid off seven minutes to halftime. Sail Bozinovic played Kaylee Noble through, with Noble beating her defender and tapping home past Szarlacki for the 2-1 lead going into the break.
Talei Moodie put the Titans up 3-1 with a goal in the 50th minute, and, with 13 minutes remaining in the match, Cayla Oliveira sealed it in the 77th minute for the Titans (2-0-0).
Nevada travels to La Jolla to close the weekend Sunday at 2 p.m. at UC San Diego.
