RENO, Nev. -Â Nevada Track & Field head coach
Shantel Twiggs announced the signing of sprinter Mia Flowers (Gardena, Calif. / Serra HS), Monday.
Flowers was named the Daily Breeze's All-Area 2024 Athlete of the Year, highlighting her senior campaign with a pair of medals at the CIF State Championships in Clovis.
"Mia Flowers is one of the top sprinters in the country, we are honored to have her join our team. She is a difference maker in our program," said Twiggs.
In the 100, Flowers was part of a dead-heat finish, but ended up with silver with a personal-best time of 11.407, edged out of gold by just six-hundredths (0.06) of a second.
Flowers, who has a personal best of 23.78 in the 200 Meters, ran a 23.87 at the state meet to take the bronze.
Flowers captured the 100 Meters at May's CIF-Southern Section Masters Championships, and took gold in the 200 Meters at April's Del Rey League Championships.
