Nealey sets school record in triple jump; George sets school record in 200 meters to wrap competition in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE – The second and final day of the NCAA West Preliminaries was highlighted by Rayven Nealey setting the school record in the triple jump, marking the first Wolf Pack athlete in school history to reach 43 feet and Magdalene George lowered her own personal record set Thursday to become the school record holder in the 200 meters, breaking a 29-year-old record to wrap competition Saturday evening in Arkansas at John McDonnell Field.

Continuing her momentum from the Mountain West Championships, where she set a new personal record mark in the triple jump (12.94m), Nealey would wrap her career as the school record holder. On her second attempt, Nealey set the school record with a new lifetime personal record mark of 13.00 meters on her first attempt, and then going on to set another school record in a mark of 13.35 meters on her third attempt, becoming the first Wolf Pack member in school history to reach 43 feet in the event. Nealey would go on to finish 15th overall, placing 21 spots higher than her 36th place finish during her senior year in 2023.

Meekness Dogonyaro also had a stellar outing in the event, jumping a new personal record of 12.89 meters on her final attempt, helping her remain fourth all-time in Nevada school history to best her previous best (12.68m) set earlier this season at the Beach Invitational April 13. Dogonyaro would finish 26th overall in the event in her first NCAA West Preliminaries appearance of her career.

After advancing to the quarterfinals of the 200 meters Thursday qualifying 23rd with a personal record time (23.18) and moving to second all-time in school history, Magdalene George carried that momentum through her performance Saturday evening, setting the school record in the event in a time of 23.08, finishing 18th in her first NCAA West Preliminaries appearance of her career. George broke a 29-year-old record set by Ali McKnight in 1995 (23.13).

The Pack's outing in Fayetteville will officially close the book on the 2024 season and preparations for the indoor season will begin through the summer months.
