STANFORD, Calif. - Nevada men's golfer
Enrique Dimayuga closed out the NCAA Stanford Regional with a superb final round performance, as he carded a 67 (-3) for the third round, bringing his 54-hole score to 206 (-4) for the event.
Dimayuga's exceptional performance on Wednesday placed him in a tie for the 14th position on the final individual leaderboard.
Despite the stellar outing from Dimayuga at the Stanford Regional, he came just short of advancing to the NCAA Championships, finishing six strokes behind Ben Warian (Minnesota) who earned the title of the top individual not on an advancing team.
Dimayuga was dialed in from the start of the round Wednesday, as he posted back-to-back birdies to open the final set of 18 holes. He followed up the consecutive birdies with three straight pars, before earning another birdie on the sixth hole. Dimayuga recorded two more pars on holes seven and eight, but he picked up a bogey on the ninth hole, as he entered the back-nine at -2.
Dimayuga had a flawless back-nine, posting eight pars and one birdie to finish the round with a score of 67, his best single round score of the event.
The end of the Stanford Regional marks the end of an incredible season for Dimayuga that included four top-three finishes, three individual titles, and First Team All-Mountain West honors for the senior from London, England. Dimayuga does have one year of eligibility remaining, and he plans to exercise his remaining eligibility and return to Nevada for a final collegiate season next year.
