Pack Adds Fresno State Transfer Xavier DuSell

RENO, Nev. - The Nevada Basketball program and Head Coach Steve Alford have officially announced the addition of Xavier DuSell, a 6'4", 200-pound guard from Scottsdale, Arizona. 

"Xavier is one of the best shooters in college basketball," said Alford. "He has deep 3-point range with proven high-quality minutes in the Mountain West. Xavier is a perfect fit for our system with how we utilize shooting. His experience, talent and leadership will be called upon. Xavier has not only been successful on the court, but he has also been a great student, and he is a high character individual."

DuSell joins Kobe Sanders and Brandon Love as the third transfer player to sign with Nevada ahead of the 2024-25 season. 

No stranger to the Mountain West, DuSell spent the first three seasons of his college career playing for Wyoming before competing for Fresno State last season. 

A prolific shooter, DuSell had a tremendous campaign for the Bulldogs last year, as he appeared in and started all 33 games, and finished the season ranked first on the team in made 3-pointers (88), first in 3-point field goal percentage (39.5%), second in scoring (11.5 PPG), and second in free throw percentage (82.7%). DuSell's 88 3-pointers throughout the season also ranked first in the entire Mountain West, while his clip of 39.5 percent from behind the arc ranked as the sixth best clip in the conference.  

DuSell reached double figures in scoring in 21 of 33 contests and he buried multiple 3-pointers in 23 games for Fresno State, including knocking down three or more shots from behind the arc in 15 contests. DuSell eclipsed the 1,000-point scoring mark for his career near the end of the 2023-24 campaign. 

DuSell had an exceptional performance in Fresno State's victory over San Jose State this past February (2/6/24), as he scored a game-high 23 points on 7-13 shooting from the field, including 6-10 from behind the arc, while knocking down 3-4 shots at the free throw line. The following game, DuSell once again led the Bulldogs to a victory, as he scored a career-high 29 points on 8-11 shooting from the field, including 7-8 from behind the arc in Fresno State's 68-66 win over Air Force (2/10/24).

During his junior season at Wyoming, DuSell appeared in 31 games for the Cowboys with 21 starts. He averaged 8.0 points and 2.6 rebounds per game throughout the season, while shooting a team-high 42.2 percent from behind the arc. DuSell also ranked first on the team in made 3-pointers, burying 62 shots from behind the arc during the season. He scored in double figures in 13 games and knocked down four or more 3-pointers in five contests for Wyoming. DuSell had one of his best games of the season in the Cowboys' home contest against Utah State (2/21/23), as he scored a season-high 21 points on 7-15 shooting from the field, including 5-10 from behind the arc. 

As a sophomore at Wyoming during the 2021-22 season, DuSell appeared in 30 games with 20 starts, helping the Cowboys reach the 2022 NCAA Tournament. DuSell averaged 7.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 35.6 percent from the field, 32.7 percent from behind the arc, and 76.7 percent at the free throw line throughout the season. 

DuSell had an outstanding freshman campaign for the Cowboys in 2020-21, as he appeared in all 25 games throughout the season, starting 11 of them. He averaged 9.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game, while leading the team and ranking sixth among freshmen in the nation in made 3-pointers (57) on a sensational mark of 45.6 percent shooting from behind the arc. DuSell scored in double figures 13 times throughout the season, and he dropped a season-high 21 points while draining six 3-pointers against San Diego State in the Mountain West Tournament. 

Prior to enrolling at Wyoming, DuSell attended Arizona Compass Prep for high school, helping lead his team to a 24-6 record during his senior year. DuSell competed for Team Harden on the AAU Circuit.  

DuSell will have one year of eligibility remaining with Nevada.
