RENO, Nev. - The Nevada Basketball program and Head Coach Steve Alford have officially announced the addition of Brandon Love, a 6'9", 215-pound forward who spent the past three seasons playing for Texas State.
"Brandon provides tremendous experience as a veteran player," said Alford. "Brandon is a big man that can really defend and rebound. He will bring great athleticism and shot blocking ability to our front court. I have been impressed with his continued development offensively, as he averaged double figures in scoring this past season. Brandon is a great student and a high character individual, and we are excited for him to join our program.
Love will join Kobe Sanders as the second transfer player to sign with the Wolf Pack ahead of the 2024-25 season.
Love appeared in 85 games, while marking 41 starts for Texas State across the past three seasons. He boasts career averages of 6.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks per game, while shooting 54.1 percent from the field.
This past season, Love had a breakout campaign for the Bobcats, appearing in and starting a team-high 34 contests throughout the year. Love posted season averages of 10.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per contest, while shooting 54.9 percent from the field. He reached double figures in scoring in 19 games for Texas State, and he recorded three double-doubles throughout the season.
Love had one of the best games of his career in a 72-62 victory over UTSA (11/17/23), as he scored 18 points, pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds, and recorded a game-high four blocks. He had another sensational performance less than a week later in a 73-66 victory over UT-Arlington (11/25/23), scoring 15 points on a highly efficient 7-9 shooting from the field, while also pulling down 10 rebounds, and tallying four blocks. He scored a career-high 23 points on 11-13 shooting from the field, in addition to grabbing nine rebounds and tallying two blocks against Marshall (1/6/24). Later in the season, he helped lead the Bobcats to a five-point victory over Southern Miss (2/3/24) after scoring 15 points and pulling down a game-high 14 boards.
An outstanding defender, Love recorded at least one block in 21 of 34 games last season, including tallying two or more blocks in 16 contests for the Bobcats.
In his sophomore season, Love appeared in 34 games while making seven starts for Texas State. He posted season averages of 3.9 points and 1.8 rebounds per game, while shooting 53.7 percent from the field.
Love appeared in 17 games off the bench for the Bobcats throughout his freshman season, completing the campaign with averages of 1.4 points and 0.8 boards per contest.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Love attended George Bush High School where he was named First Team All-District his senior season after averaging 17.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.0 blocks, and 2.0 steals per game.
Love will have one year of eligibility remaining with Nevada.
